Hot Spring On Flat Creek
The orange dot marks the spring, in a frame about three quarters of a mile wide.
Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve has a warm spring on Flat Creek, far from any road, and the National Park Service lists it as open. The temperature was never recorded as a number. Tok is the nearest town and it is well over a hundred miles away. This is remote country; the spring is a dot on the preserve map and the record shows neither pool nor structure.
Park Service land in the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area. The closest road is more than forty miles away, unnamed on file, so the approach is a long backcountry effort that the record leaves entirely undescribed. Elevation is modest, under two thousand feet. Cold and dry country. Precipitation barely reaches a foot and a half in a year, and the mean temperature stays well under freezing, though snowfall is modest at about three feet.
Access is open and no fee is on record. No best months listed, no campground within the record. The spring is classed warm without a reading, so soaking is a maybe. That far from a road in a national preserve is a serious trip, and the record holds no route information at all. Check with the preserve office in advance.
USGS hasn't flown a detailed laser scan here yet, so this view comes from aerial photos and older elevation data.
