Nylen Hot Springs

Nylen Hot Springs lies in the Tongass National Forest about 28 miles from Sitka, on US Forest Service land, with access marked open. The springs sit well above sea level, around sixteen hundred feet up. No water temperature has been recorded, which is the one gap that matters most to anyone hoping to soak. There is no chemistry on file either.
Backcountry, a little over eight miles from National Forest Development Road 7540. The approach is not described anywhere in the record. Heavy snow country, well over a hundred inches in a season, with very wet years and a yearly average not far above freezing.
The closest listed camp is the Kook Lake Cabin, about twelve miles away. No fee appears in the file and no season is recommended, so read the snowfall figures and go when it has melted. Treat the word hot with caution, since no temperature is on record. There is no access note beyond open, so plan as if nothing is maintained.
