Hot Spring On Attu Island

Attu Island holds a warm spring inside the national wildlife refuge known as Alaska Maritime. Warm is the classification, with no actual reading behind it, which leaves soaking a guess. Lake Elwood Road ends under two miles off and the rest of the way is walking. Access is restricted. No county is attached to this one, and nothing anywhere describes a pool.
US Fish and Wildlife Service land. From Lake Elwood Road the approach is a walk, on a route the record does not describe, climbing to roughly nine hundred feet. Snow piles up hard here, a dozen feet in an ordinary year, and the precipitation total is high. Average temperature stays in the high thirties.
There is no best-month call on file. Given the snow load, plan around the snow season. Refuge access is restricted, so clear it with the Alaska Maritime refuge. Camping and fees go unmentioned, as does any temperature figure. A warm classification without a number tells you little, so go without expectations.
