A thermal spring in Katmai National Park, west of Cape Douglas, in the Kodiak Island Borough. The record calls it hot and gives no temperature. Access is open, and the National Park Service is the land manager. Forty-odd miles of ground separate it from any road, and Kodiak Station, the nearest community, is nearly a hundred miles away.
High for coastal Alaska, close to nineteen hundred feet, in a park with a very large snowfall figure and a yearly average right at freezing. Wet and cold. No road comes near. Nothing is listed for facilities or camping, and the only route detail is the distance itself. Rain is heavy too.
No best months are recorded, and the snow total is very large. Open access within Katmai, but this is long-range backcountry, so the park is the place to ask about conditions. No temperature means no soaking plans. The word hot is all the record gives.
