Tanaga Island's hot spring is another Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge thermal site with a category and no number. Dutch Harbor, the nearest town, is some three hundred and forty miles away. The spring sits about nine hundred feet up, thirteen miles from the closest road, and the refuge restricts access.
Fish and Wildlife refuge ground. The spring is a long way from a road the record never names, and the approach is classed backcountry. How anyone lands on the island or crosses it is not on record. Snowfall is heavy, eight feet in a typical year, and precipitation is heavy too, well over four feet. The mean temperature sits in the upper thirties.
Restricted access; the Alaska Maritime refuge is the authority to ask. The record has no best months and no campground, and lists no fee. Unmeasured temperature, so no promises about soaking. Aleutian backcountry from a road is the approach, with no route on file.
