Hot Springs On Atka Island

Atka Island sits far out in the Aleutians West Census Area, and this is one of several hot springs recorded there on Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge land. Dutch Harbor, the nearest town in the listing, is close to two hundred miles off. The record says hot and stops there. Access is restricted by the refuge.
The site is classed as a hike, not quite five miles in from the road end, at nearly eight hundred feet. Snow is heavy here and the average temperature sits in the upper thirties. It rains a lot. The ground belongs to the US Fish and Wildlife Service as part of the refuge.
