Crohare Spring
Seventy degrees is what the water reads at Crohare Spring, cooler than a swimming pool in August, so a soak is off the table. Barely warm seep is the right description. It lies in the hills a few miles out of Livermore, on ground under a Tri Valley Conservancy easement. Access is listed as open.
Low hills east of the Bay, around five hundred feet up. The spring is a few hundred yards beyond the road, a short walk on conservancy land. Rain comes in winter, about sixteen inches, and snow does not come at all. A nonprofit holds the easement, which is why the land designation reads as a conservation area. No campground appears in our data for this spot.
Winter, December to February, is the time the record likes. The spring is open according to our records and reachable in a short walk. Nothing about fees. Nothing about camping. Keep expectations about the water low. It is tepid, and the reading is the only one we have.
Aircraft with laser scanners measured this ground to within inches. The scan strips out trees and buildings, leaving the bare shape of the land around Crohare Spring.

Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
