Keithly Warm Spring

A warm seep in Washington County, Idaho, twenty miles or so from Weiser, Keithly Warm Spring is tepid, warm to the hand and nothing more, which rules it out as a hot soak and makes it more of a curiosity. The record names no owner and is silent on public access. Its chemistry was sampled as recently as 2008, newer than most of the Idaho springs on file.
The road is close, about 150 feet from the source, though the record leaves it unnamed. Low country for Idaho, with mild winters by the standards of the state and snow totals that are modest. Precipitation is light. Without a land owner or unit on file there is nothing to say about what surrounds it beyond the county.
Winter comes up as the best time on record. Mann Creek Campground is the nearest on file, a bit over ten miles away. Nothing about the water temperature calls for caution. What does need checking is ownership and access, since neither is recorded.

Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
