Huffaker Springs
Eight miles from Sparks, beside Rio Wrangler Parkway in Washoe County, Huffaker Springs comes up tepid, low eighties, warm to the hand and no more than that. The USGS keeps it on its list and there is a photograph in the record. The record says nothing about ownership or if the public can get to the water.
This is about as roadside as it gets, a few feet off the parkway, at around forty-four hundred feet. Winters bring well over a yard of snow. The year sees about sixteen inches of precipitation. Mount Rose campground is the nearest listed camping, around fourteen miles away.
December through February are marked best, though an eighty-degree spring in a snowy winter will feel lukewarm at most. There is no fee or access status on file. Camp at Mount Rose if you are making a trip of it. No chemistry has been recorded.

Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
