Backcountry describes Little Hot Springs in Eureka County: forty-five miles from Eureka, on open BLM land under Mount Lewis Field Office management. The record calls it hot but gives no temperature, so do not count on it being soakable. Getting there takes a hike of more than two miles from Grass Valley Road.
From Grass Valley Road the springs are about two and a third miles on foot across public land. The site sits above fifty-six hundred feet, and winters drop more than three feet of snow against eleven inches of yearly precipitation. No designation beyond ordinary public land applies.
