Springs
Drag the handle to compare the two views. The orange dot marks the spring, in a frame about three quarters of a mile wide.
Carico Valley Road runs past a cluster of springs on Mount Lewis Field Office land, roughly 35 miles from Battle Mountain in Lander County. The water is lukewarm. Public access is open; the ground belongs to the BLM. The listing has no USGS number and no photograph. Water chemistry was never collected, so the lukewarm figure stands alone.
Park on Carico Valley Road and it is about a hundred yards on foot. Elevation is not recorded. Winters drop close to three feet of snow. The year brings about eleven inches of moisture, which is damp for Nevada. Open public land, designated public and nothing more.
December and January and February lead the record. Lukewarm water gives little warmth on a cold day; know that going in. Short walk. Open access. Fee, none on file. Camping, none listed. No temperature beyond that one reading exists, and it has no date.
Aircraft with laser scanners measured this ground to within inches. The scan strips out trees and buildings, leaving the bare shape of the land around Springs.

Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
