Walti Hot Springs
Walti Hot Springs is a scalding spring in Eureka County, a bit over forty miles from Eureka. The only water chemistry is a 1974 USGS sample, slightly acidic, with calcium, magnesium, sodium, sulfate and chloride. Nobody is on record as the landowner and nothing on file covers public access. There is a photograph in the record.
Roughly a third of a mile on foot. The road you start from has no name on record, and no elevation is listed either. Winters put down more than three feet of snow. Precipitation over the year is moderate, with the average temperature somewhere near fifty. No campground is listed.
Rated best December through February, snow and all. Scalding water, so keep out of the source. The landowner and the access rules are unknown; make inquiries before driving forty miles. No fee noted. The water sample is half a century old, and the temperature on file carries no date.
USGS hasn't flown a detailed laser scan here yet, so this view comes from aerial photos and older elevation data.

Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
