Inside Wrangell-St. Elias National Park, on Twelvemile Creek, there is a warm spring that the Park Service lists as open. Warm is the whole temperature record; nobody wrote down a number. It sits near three thousand feet, thirty miles from a road called Tractor Trail, and Tok, the nearest town, is a hundred and seventy-odd miles away.
High interior ground inside a national park. The road on file is Tractor Trail, backcountry class, nothing describing the route. Snow here is on another scale, nearly thirty feet in a normal year, and precipitation runs to five and a half feet. The yearly mean stays below freezing.
Open access under the National Park Service; no fee or campground on record and no best months listed. Thirty feet of snow makes the window short, though the record does not say when it opens. Warm, with no reading, is all the temperature information that exists. Tractor Trail is the last road, and what lies between is not on file.
