Hot Springs Near Hot Springs Cove

Hot Springs Cove holds a scalding spring, 192 degrees when measured, roughly a hundred feet above the cove. The place is Aleutians West Census Area, and the closest town, Unalaska, is nearly ninety miles off. A USGS crew sampled the water in the summer of 1976 and found it heavily mineralized. Owner and access are not in the record.
Low ground near the cove, not much above the water. Beachmaster Street, twenty-seven miles away, is the road on file, and the route from it is backcountry and undescribed. Land ownership is blank, and no trail is recorded. Maritime weather, averaging low forties. Nearly eight feet of snow, and over four feet of precipitation.
Scalding source; do not get in. Flagged best in the opening months of the year. No access status or owner on file, so no office to contact. No campground, no fee. The chemistry on record dates from 1976, so treat it as historical.
The USGS took a water sample here on July 15, 1976, at its monitoring site. Dissolved solids came back high, with calcium, magnesium, sodium, sulfate, chloride and iron all present. That is the only chemistry on file for the cove.
