Brockway Hot Springs
Brockway Hot Springs comes up hot a hundred feet or so off Speedboat Avenue, a mile and change from Kings Beach in Placer County, at well over six thousand feet. The water is hot, above comfortable soaking temperature unmixed. The record has nothing on who owns it or on access, and a spring a hundred feet off a named street so close to town deserves a careful check on ownership before you go.
Speedboat Avenue is the road, and the spring is in high country where winter snow averages over a hundred and fifty inches. The yearly mean temperature is in the high forties. Rain runs around thirty inches a year on top of the snow. No land owner or land unit is recorded, and that street name is the one concrete clue to the surroundings.
