Golconda Hot Spring (North)
Two Golconda springs appear in this database, each a dozen miles or so from Winnemucca in Humboldt County. The northern one surfaces hot enough to scald on contact, and a southern one is listed separately. Land owner and access status are blank for both. Hot Springs Road is the named road here. A photo is attached too.
Hot Springs Road runs within a couple hundred feet, so this is roadside. The ground is mid elevation basin, dry through the year with two feet or so of snow across a winter. A 1978 sample tested slightly alkaline, with iron in the water. Nothing about a land unit or a campground is on record.
Winter months are listed as best. The source is scalding. Do not put anything living into it. Ownership and access are not on record, so watch for posted signs. The water chemistry is from the late 1970s and may not describe the water today.
Aircraft with laser scanners measured this ground to within inches. The scan strips out trees and buildings, leaving the bare shape of the land around Golconda Hot Spring (North).

That's about 1½ times the US average of 65. It's higher than at 64% of the springs on this site.
Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
