Kimber Spring, also written Rose Spring, is a barely warm spring in the far western reaches of Tooele County. Wendover is the nearest town on record and it is nearly sixty miles away, which tells you most of what you need to know about the country. This is a USGS thermal point, measured once in the late 1960s, and little else about it is on file.

Location

Remote desert basin at around five thousand feet. The spring is close to a road, a couple hundred feet, though which road is not recorded, and neither is ownership. Rain is scarce here, around ten inches a year, and the snow is lighter than in Utah's mountain valleys. No campground appears on file.

Winter is listed as the best window, though with water this cool the time of year matters little for soaking, because you will not be soaking. There is no camping on record. The temperature and chemistry come from a 1968 sample. Before driving that far, confirm the land status, since access is not recorded.

Terrain

Aircraft with laser scanners measured this ground to within inches. The scan strips out trees and buildings, leaving the bare shape of the land around Kimber (Rose) Spring.

Heat Below
133 milliwatts per square meter of heat flow

That's about twice the US average of 65. It's higher than at 83% of the springs on this site.

Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
