Veyo Hot Spring is in Washington County in Utah's southwest corner, eleven miles or so from Ivins. The water on file is at the low end of soaking warm, fine to sit in on a mild day and no hotter than that. The USGS tracks it and a 1967 sample gives the chemistry. Neither ownership nor public access is recorded.

Location

The spring rises a few dozen feet from a road whose name was never noted, and the walk in amounts to nothing. Elevation is mid-desert, around forty-four hundred feet, and the climate is warm and dry with only about a foot of snow in a winter. No land manager is on file.

Winter, per the record. Pine Valley Guard Station is the closest camping listed, about twelve miles away. The chemistry and temperature date to 1967, so both could have drifted. Because nobody has recorded who owns the ground, assume permission is needed until you know otherwise.

Aircraft with laser scanners measured this ground to within inches. The scan strips out trees and buildings, leaving the bare shape of the land around Veyo Hot Spring.

Heat Below
143 milliwatts per square meter of heat flow

That's about twice the US average of 65. It's higher than at 91% of the springs on this site.

Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
