N O Spring comes up tepid in Cochise County, about 29 miles out from Benson. Think of it as a mild seep, since the temperature on file is only a little above what the air runs in a warm month. It lies a few hundred feet off North Muleshoe Road, so nobody walks far to reach it. Who owns the ground is blank in the record, and public access has never been noted one way or the other.
High desert, a bit above four thousand feet, out past Benson. The water shows beside the road. No agency is named as landowner, so who controls the ground is an open question. Winters bring a dusting of snow most years and little beyond that. Ten inches of rain is normal, so this is dry country.
Go in winter. The three months on file as best are the cold ones, and summer in this part of Cochise County is hard going. Roadside access means no hike. Since neither ownership nor access is recorded, treat the approach as uncertain and ask around Benson before walking in. The reading is tepid; do not come expecting a hot soak.
