White Rock Spring
White Rock Spring is a tepid spring on BLM land in Clark County, about nine miles from Summerlin South on the Las Vegas side of the valley. The water measured 78 degrees back in 1985 and runs neutral in pH. The Red Rock/Sloan Field Office administers the land and it is open. A photograph is on file. This is one of the few thermal points near a big city that is open, measured and camp-adjacent.
About a hundred and fifty yards of walking from an unnamed road. The spring sits at around forty eight hundred feet in the desert west of Las Vegas, where snow is light, a foot or so in a cold winter, and rain is sparse. Red Rock Canyon Campground, about six miles away, is the nearest place to stay on file.
The cold months top the rankings. Open access, no fee recorded. The temperature is on the cool side for a soak and the reading is four decades old, so it may not match what you find. Red Rock Canyon Campground is the overnight option.
Aircraft with laser scanners measured this ground to within inches. The scan strips out trees and buildings, leaving the bare shape of the land around White Rock Spring.

Heat flow measures the warmth working its way up through the ground from deep inside the earth. Where it runs high, rain and snowmelt that seep down through cracks in the rock come back up hot.
